The Mudkats, "Play Terrapin Station" SRT0301, $10.00
- Track Listing:
- Terrapin Station, Western Wind, Secret 33, My Foot's Asleep
- Description:
-
This EP features a full-length version of the epic Grateful
Dead song, with a decidedly heavier slant. There is some
wonderful guitar work on this ambitious production. Also included
are "Western Wind" by early-60's folkies The Limeliters, and
the original compositions "Secret 33" and "My Foot's Asleep".
The latter is a one-take guitar duo free-for-all, inspired by
bassist Jon Luini's harrowing experience at San Francisco
International Airport, guaranteed to make you never want to
fly again.

The Mudkats, "Semivintage" SRT0201, $12.00
- Track Listing:
- The Big Muddy, Tic Tic Tic, Back To Wonderland, She's Good, Santiano,
Cruel Thing To Do, Raina Da Cappo Finally (or, Dare To Do Nothing),
Charlie James, Smile Miss Laura
- Description:
-
The debut album from The Mudkats, and also the first Solana CD
release, "Semivintage" is a lighthearted mix of original songs,
updated versions of some true folk gems by The Kingston Trio
and Pete Seeger, and one traditional American folk song, the
haunting "Charlie James". Other standout tracks include
"Santiano", featuring what may be the most rolicking trumpet
solo ever committed to tape, "Raina Da Cappo Finally (or, Dare
To Do Nothing)", a very long, very silly instumental featuring
Bill Rushing on buzz-saw guitar, and the rocking "Smile Miss
Laura".
